Our History

UCS has been a leading provider in the electrical infrastructure space for over 25 years, servicing a range of companies to build future homes of Australians throughout the country.

1995

UCS was established by Niel Towan and two other former State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV) employees.
2001

UCS had built a reputation as Victoria’s premium provider in underground network design and construction services.
2006

UCS was recognised as an industry leader in specialist HV and LV cable jointing at utility standards. UCS continually expanded its pool of resources with new apprentices and training to increase the technical capability of its workforce.
2012

UCS has become one of Australia’s largest specialist underground network design and construction service providers.
2016

UCS expands into Melbourne (Hallam and Truganina), and into NSW (Campbelltown).
2018

UCS took the strategic view, developing new businesses in sustainability, infrastructure, telco and solar. We established a depot in Grovedale (near Geelong).
2019

UCS launched its new name and brand, UCS Group.
2020

UCS delivers its first project in SE QLD.
UCS commissions its first large scale +1MW 1MWh battery system at Lansell Square, VIC.
2021

UCS acquires assets to form UCS Overhead Services to perform overhead powerline work.
UCS acquires BG & RM Williams Electrical to form UCS Signals to perform traffic signals and road safety equipment construction and maintenance.
UCS replaces its Hallam depot with a purpose built facility in Pakenham that is able to operate off-grid.
2022

UCS commenced its first project in SA, started ASENO estates and established a depot in Edinburgh North.
2023

UCS established AS3000 Grade A electrical teams and won several lifestyle community / land lease community projects.
